Our publications about rainbow homelessness

As we’ve been developing Making Space, we’ve produced reports and webinars to share what we’re learning about rainbow homelessness in Aotearoa.

Pilot evaluation report

We ran a pilot in early 2023 with Te Tāpui Atawhai - Auckland City Mission, Emerge Aotearoa and Housing First Auckland

Briefing paper

In October 2022 we produced a short briefing paper for decision makers to share what we know about rainbow homelessness, how the Making Space programme is contributing to change, and the wider structural changes that are needed.

Discovery research webinar

Watch our webinar from 17 March 2022, which shared what we were learning about rainbow homelessness in Auckland and where our design process was up to.

Knowledge brief

Our knowledge brief, An Introduction to Rainbow Homelessness, offers a simplified snapshot into what we know about rainbow homelessness and, in particular, the role of housing and homelessness service organisations.

Insights report

Our Discovery Research Findings and Insights report shares what we learned through our design research process, talking to people working in Auckland’s housing services and rainbow people with lived experience of homelessness.

Rainbow youth homelessness webinar

Recorded in July 2021, this webinar is a conversation between Neihana Gordon-Stables (Homelessness Support Worker at RainbowYOUTH), Nyx Simons (Homelessness Lead at Te Ngākau Kahukura and project lead for Making Space) and Tycho Vandenburg (PhD candidate at the University of Auckland, researching transgender and gender diverse homelessness in Aotearoa, and part of the Making Space team). Tycho, Nyx and Neihana discuss what rainbow homelessness looks like in Aotearoa, barriers to housing and homelessness support, and how services can be safer and more inclusive.
